Terms

Using this site

What this site is, what it is not, and what we each owe the other. Short, and in plain English.

Last updated August 26, 2026.

Who we are

Bunker of Light is a program of CJ Tzedakah & DollarDaily, a New Jersey nonprofit corporation based in Toms River. These terms cover this website and the things you can do on it — asking for help, offering help, registering for a retreat, donating, and signing up for email or texts.

Using the site means these terms apply to you. If you disagree with them, please do not use the site; you are still welcome to phone or write to us.

What this site is not

It is not an emergency service. If somebody is in immediate danger, call 911. If somebody is in crisis, call or text 988.

It is not medical, legal, psychological, or financial advice. We are a family and a community, and where somebody needs a professional we say so and help them find one.

Submitting a form does not create an obligation on our part. We are a small organisation with a finite number of beds and hours, and we cannot promise a place, a ride, or a response by any particular time. We answer as fast as we can.

Text messages

If you sign up for texts, we will send messages about Shabbos hosting, events, and occasional updates on our work — nothing else.

Message frequency varies; most weeks there is nothing at all. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your plan. Reply STOP at any time to end the messages, and HELP for help. Agreeing to texts is never a condition of receiving help from us.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Donations

Donations are voluntary and are used to run the work — food, beds, transport, programming and the costs of keeping the house open. Card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and never touch our servers.

If a donation was made in error, write to Hello@BunkerofLight.org and we will sort it out.

Retreat registrations and card holds

Registering for a retreat may place a temporary authorization hold on your card rather than a charge. A hold is not a payment: your bank may show the amount as pending while it is in place.

If the retreat goes ahead, we complete that same charge for that same amount without asking for your card again. If it does not proceed, the authorization is released and the pending amount disappears. If you need to cancel or change a registration, write to us.

What we ask of you

  • Tell us the truth on a form. Decisions about beds and safety get made from what you write.
  • Do not submit somebody else’s personal information without their knowledge.
  • Do not use the site to harass anyone, to break the law, or to try to interfere with how it runs.

Other people’s websites

We link to other organisations because they may be the right door for somebody. We do not control them and we are not responsible for what they do or say. Their terms and their privacy policies are their own.

Where we stand on liability

The site is provided as it is. We keep it accurate and running as best we can, but we do not guarantee that it is free of errors or always available, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for loss arising from its use.

Nothing here limits our responsibility for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes. New Jersey law governs them.
